 In celebration of the Sesser Centennial held in June 2004, the city had 1000 Commemorative Coins struck. These coins are 1 1/2 inch, made of commercial bronze. The front of the coin depicts the beginnings of Sesser, showing railroad, agriculture and coal mining, along with the outline of Illinois. The back of the coin shows the Historic Sesser Opera House which was placed on National Register of Historical Places in 1982.
If you have ties to Sesser or are just a collector you'll want to pick one or more up. They make great gifts for family members or friends who may have ties to Sesser.
