In celebration of the Sesser Centennial held in June 2004, the city had
1000 Commemorative Coins struck. These coins are 1 1/2 inch, made of commercial
bronze. The front of the coin depicts the beginnings of Sesser, showing
railroad, agriculture and coal mining, along with the outline of Illinois. The
back of the coin shows the Historic Sesser Opera House which was placed on
National Register of Historical Places in 1982. If
you have ties to Sesser or are just a collector you'll want to pick one or more
up. They make great gifts for family members or friends who may have ties to
Sesser.
Coins are $5.00 each.
