A Certified City established in 1904.

Mayor Ned Mitchell welcomes all new comers, visitors, developers, businesses to our city of Sesser. Virtually in the center of it all Sesser IL is just minutes from a major junction of Interstates and with passenger rail and freight capabilities close by, with junior, community colleges and universities within a short drive the city of Sesser should be your next hometown.

Interested in coming to a great community? Sesser is a great location to spend a few hours or to spend a lifetime. Many of our businesses are known in the area for being the best. From steaks, lawyers, banquet rooms, buffets, crafts and shopping, big burgers, and don't forget Southern Illinois' Best Custard, at the Custard Stand. Sesser is a great place to be. Couple that with a great school, low crime, and outdoor activities near by and you've got a great place to live and visit. For more information about Sesser, its businesses, or its schools please contact the Chamber at 618-625-5566.

History: Settled in 1904, became a city in 1909. Named for John Sesser, a surveyor and railroad official.
