Sesser Library Board members are unpaid volunteers appointed by the Mayor and approved by the City Council. Each member serves 3 year terms, and may be reappointed by the Mayor for as many terms as he/she wishes. The library board’s duties include assisting the librarian with grants and reports; attending a library board meeting on the 2nd Monday of every month; and assisting with other library events as they wish to. Our library board consists of 7 to 9 members, and members must live within the city limits to qualify as a board member.
Opera House Board
The intended purpose of the Opera House Board of Directors is to establish policies and procedures for the usage of Opera House facilities, as well as establish a plan to improve and increase the utilization of those facilities. Board members are unpaid volunteers appointed by the Mayor and approved by the City Council.

The intended purpose of the Police Merit Board is to establish policies and procedures for the Sesser Police Department. Board members are unpaid volunteers appointed by the Mayor and approved by the City Council.
The intended purpose of the Zoning Board is address issues, hear appeals, and determine resolutions on matters relating to the City’s zoning code.
